Al Fresco

As in all major cities, even in Milan any green area is to be considered a gift, an oasis of serenity that allows us to distance ourselves from the sounds of the daily chaos that surrounds us.
I’m personally always fascinated by those who are able to re-invent and transform little cement spaces into small corners of paradise that envelop all 5 senses.
Here is a perfect example: Emanuele Bortolotti (agronomist, and specialist in Garden Architecture) and Ferdinando Fernandini (who’s been an art director in the past, and then moved on to the catering business: have you ever visited his Piquenique?) started off with a common taste that brought them to transform the storage room of an old steel factor into Al Fresco, a concept restaurant with an international taste.
There isn’t a precise and coherent line that designs the venue, instead there’s an informal and timeless decor, the waiters are dressed as gardeners, and a big veranda opens up to the beautiful view of the green garden, also set up for outdoor lunch breaks.
In these times, clients require much more than a simple dish to any restaurant they might go to.
Because of this, Al Fresco offers its clients an inventive approach to dining, which also includes a large sharing counter positioned right in front of the streetview kitchen, and decorated with old majolicas set casually in the mix. As far as the menu goes, the food is deliberately simple, not excessively elaborated, obviously italian, and made with first choice ingredients that always keep track of foods’ seasonings, and the menu includes many vegetarian choices.
This innovative formula always keeps track of traditional cuisine, and makes sure Al Freso remains a wonderful and pleasant kitchen venue.
