Sushi? No! Smøøshi!
Or rather: Smøøshi, the dutch version of ‘sushi’.
During a trip to Copenhagen, chef Luca Carleo sat down at a restaurant and discovered this particular and peculiar dish: Smøøshi represents the joy of enjoying your meal by sitting down with your friends at the same table and spending long hours talking, having a good time, and of course eating.
Or, rather than eating, having a taste of different dishes and flavors, taking a bite here and there. Smøøshi is in fact ideal for all types of eaters: from someone who just wants to have a light snack, to someone who wants to devour a complete meal. Here, you can have a seat during happy hour and carry on with your evening for hours, feeding your appetite as well as your curiosity to try all the different types of dishes the venue has to offer!
The restaurant’s history is much funnier told directly by the owners, but you could summarize it more or less like this: Luca discovered Smøøshi, Mario discovered the location (an ex knitwear factory in Via Vincenzo Monti), and together with their friends and business partners Francesco and Enrico they proceeded to opening the first italian Smøøshi restaurant.
There are various influences from the lombard traditions, the menu is changed seasonally, and there is a new culinary interpretation of dishes that don’t require any seasoning or dressings, and these delicious edible creations are beautifully decorated by the “blue box” that will host your dinner. Or your lunchtime: here, you won’t merely find your typical business lunch menu, but you will be able to chose between a vast assortment of food choices. Copper and dutch-styled decorations, contrasting colors, and a ‘choose your music’ area. There are few seats available, there aren’t any tablecloths or placemats, and there is absolutely no double serving period: Smøøshi is a different way of eating, a gourmet choice with a great taste. You simply must try it.
