I can’t think of a better way of describing Al Mercato than writing down the typical conversation I have repeatedly had with a multitude of my friends.

FRIEND: Yesterday I had one of the best hamburgers in all of Milan, in a venue that’s just opened in….(insert certain area name here)

ME: Have you tried the Al Mercato Burger Bar?

FRIEND: Actually, no. I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never gone there yet.

ME: Well there you have it! Take my advice: before thinking about classifying the best hamburger you’ve ever had, do me a favor and go to Al Mercato. THEN, you can come and talk to me about the best hamburger in town!

This apparently self-assured attitude comes from the certainty that Al Mercato has no equals.
It’s an indisputable gastronomical excellence in Milan, where the two master chefs Eugenio and Beniamino have expertly applied their culinary talents and science to an apparently simple product such as a sandwich.
The result is a triumph of well balanced flavors and unforgettable tastes, that will literally leave you gazing open-mouthed at their wonder.
The venue has two areas separated by the kitchen, which is set on view right before the customer’s eyes.
On one side, the restaurant has a more retrò decoration, intimate and welcoming with decorated wallpaper and tapestry, a place where you can taste refined dishes and a carefully cured cookery.
On the other side, you will find the more street-style area of the venue, the Burger Bar, where asides from all the famous types of Hamburgers you can also order delicious sandwiches such as the lobster club sandwich: boiled lobster with caramelled onions. I suggest you book a table in advance, because Eugenio and Beniamino’s talents aren’t a secret in Milan, and your wait could turn out to be quite long!
